Measure T keeps money here in local schools instead of sending more of it to Sacramento.

Teacher and Student

Keeping funding here in our neighborhoods gives parents, teachers and principals the power to help our 87,000 students.

Your yes vote on Measure T will:

  • Assure small class  sizes
  • Prevent 200 Teacher  Layoffs
  • Preserve college-prep courses in  English, math and science
  • Protect arts and music in our schools
  • Continue vocational education and  job-training
  • Maintain crucial after-school  programs

Measure T provides local control of schools by:

  • Generating $12.5 million per year  through a $92 annual assessment on local properties for just five years – only  25 cents a day
  • Significantly lessening the impact of Sacramento’s  continued, out-of-control budget  cuts
  • Protecting academic programs that have made LBUSD a model for school districts  nationwide.

Measure T Provides Strict Accountability

A Citizen Oversight Committee will  ensure Measure T funds are spent efficiently, effectively and as promised

Audits will be conducted every year and expenditure reports will be available in local libraries

By law, no Measure T funds can pay administrators’ salaries
Measure T funds will be put in a  separate bank account that can only be spent on voter-approved local classroom needs

Measure T is a Wise Investment

Good schools help to build strong neighborhoods and keep property values high. Measure T is a prudent investment that benefits our children while preventing property values from plummeting.

We’ve Come Too Far...

Our local schools have made great strides. The Long Beach Unified School District has earned dozens of prestigious awards, including the distinction of being America’s best school district. Our teachers are ranked among the world’s finest. Numerous local elementary, middle and high schools have won state and national honors for academic excellence.  As a result, we have attracted superior teachers. Better teachers and top-notch instruction have increased student achievement. While other school districts experience high dropout rates, our students go on to the best colleges and attain high-demand, high-paying jobs

Invest in a sure thing.
Invest in our community.
Invest in our children.
